First Hill of 2014: Revisiting Mam Tor Circuit

I'm leaving my thesis alone for long enough to post an update! But I'm only really allowing myself to blow off work tonight because I am currently full of ill, so this is going to be more of a photo update.
But hey, at least you don't have to read as my of my writing, then!

At any rate, at the start of last month, the planets finally aligned and the Yeti and I were able to get the bus from Eccy Road over to Hope and wander up our first hill of 2014.

But not before we unexpectedly encountered tiny horses.

Then on to Lose Hill.

Now I'm not great at this bit of the circuit at the best of times. But I was particularly rubbish on this occassion. Cue decision to try to work out some kind of gym-friendly workout routine to deal with this, but more on that in another post.

The recent crappy weather meant our great return to the hills was a muddy one.
And that the circuit had acquired a false tarn for itself.

I'm still not finished cleaning my boots, by the way.

But Mam Tor circuit would never be complete without the mandatory photo on that rock on Back Tor.
Now this wasn't even the best photo from there, I'm saving that. I'm not sure what for, mind, but nonetheless.

Then on to Mam Tor itself, down the shivering road, over into Castleton and then lazily getting the bus back to Eccy Road (well, once we'd stocked up on fresh-baked goodies at the shop opposite the bus stop)

«Cheerful bugger

We don't  actively have any hikes lined up for April, but with the weather improving (touch wood!) and the Easter holidays ahead, hopefully we'll make it back to the Peaks, or perhaps further afield.

On that note - we've started planning our summer holiday to the Lakes in earnest. We're planning on going for around 10 days and Sam will be borrowing the family car, meaning we can venture out of Langdale. And in between typically Yorkshire outbursts of "How Much?!" and being beyond relieved that I've not been too awful at saving recently, I've been getting very, very excited.
95-ish days to go!
